Our goal is to make your child feel welcomed and valued as well as to provide a clean and age-appropriate atmosphere for learning and fun.
Our nursery is divided into three rooms:
-Birth—12 months (or walking)
-12 months—24 months
-24 months—4 years
We currently have eight employees who take care of the nursery plus several volunteers who step in from time to time. All of our paid staff are certified by the American Red Cross in CPR. In an effort to protect our children from illness, we do ask that your children be fever-free for no less than 24 hours before bringing them to the nursery. We clean between every meeting and undergo a deep cleaning at least three times a week.
Children ages 2-4 years meet in our preschool nursery room, where they have a lesson and generally sing a few songs. If your child is 4 you may choose to leave them in the nursery during the worship service, or you may pick them up at the end of Sunday School and take them to the service with you and let them be dismissed to Children’s Church.
When you drop your child off in the nursery you will get a pager. If for any reason we need you we will page you back to the nursery. The nursery is open for for children from birth through age 4. Parents with 4-year-olds may choose to take their children into the Sanctuary for the beginning of the service and then have them dismissed for Children’s Church, or children may stay in the nursery the entire length of the service. Children’s Church is for ages 4 through first grade.
All rooms (birth – 4 years) open at 5:15 on Wednesday during The Gathering.
Our Sunday School classes are divided into three classes:
Teachers use Great Commission Publications for their curriculum, and our second-and third-graders learn Catechism. All children’s Sunday School classes meet in the Education Wing, located on the corner of 24th Avenue and 10th Street. The best way to access this building is the door by the playground.
Children’s Church is for age 4 through first grade (second grade and up stay in the service,) and children are dismissed to a classroom in the Education Wing about 15 minutes into the service. Adult volunteers teach a lesson and lead crafts or games with the kids.
On Wednesday nights the second- through fifth-graders enjoy eating together in the adult-supervised Children’s Table Room behind the kitchen. Children in first grade or younger eat with their parents in the Fellowship Hall. At 6:00, after supper, children are dismissed to their classrooms, where kindergartners and first-graders have a Bible lesson, crafts, and music while second- through fifth-graders have a lesson and/or music. Classes are dismissed at 6:45 p.m.
Bible Drill is a fun growth experience for our fourth- and fifth-graders. Participating students will develop skills in the use of the Bible, increase their knowledge of the Bible, and learn how to apply the Bible to everyday life experiences. They do this through very fun and interactive activities and outings that are mostly “on the road” adventures.
