Music Ministry
Music is a vital part of the ministry here at First Presbyterian Church. The purpose of musical portions during our services is to prepare hearts to receive the word, to bring unity through congregational singing, and to express praise in obedience and in response to the Creator’s call. The corporate worship experience consists of both traditional and contemporary styles.
Opportunities to serve in our music ministry abound:
–The Sanctuary Choir assists with hymns and songs on Sunday, performs weekly introits and anthems, and presents extended works at Christmas and Easter. Sanctuary Choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings.
–The Praise Band plays on Wednesday nights and occasionally on Sundays. From traditional hymns to RUF hymns to contemporary praise music, the band creates a diverse worship experience. Praise Band rehearses at 4:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons.
-There are also opportunities for children to develop their gifts in the form of plays and musical presentations, especially during Vacation Bible School and at Christmas.
